CONTENT ANALYST JOBS

Description
Global Production and Manufacturing Services (GPMS), a shared services division of Cengage Learning, supports our business unit customers in their goal of supplying education and training solutions to their customers across the globe by providing world class production and manufacturing services.
The Content Analyst provides analyses and performs activities to support the acquisition, loading, tracking, delivery, and remediation of content in editorial production and publishing systems. Analyzes incoming data and customer requirements to create and implement strategies for processing electronic content to maximize access, time to market, currency, and quality goals for Cengage Gale products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Configure and manage the acquisition and flow of periodical content through editorial production systems. Proactively identify issues impeding quality or timeliness of processing and recommend solutions. • Create specifications that support the development of filters and data conversion programs that ensure the full value of converted content is made available for incorporation into Cengage Gale products. • Monitor, manage, and remediate errors in the periodical production system and publishing repository. • Define and execute extracts of data from the publishing repository. Collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure that data fulfillment requirements are met. • Analyze and respond to formal inquiries regarding data fulfillment status from internal and external customers. Resolve complex technical aspects of data import, conversion, and delivery. • Provide input into the development of Cengage Gale standard data structures to improve their ability to leverage publisher-supplied content, to support editorial value-add, and to support efficient processing. Proactively recommend enhancements to existing processes and systems to improve efficiency and quality. • Provide feedback and analyses for the evaluation, development and testing of applications and tools. • Create and maintain documentation of processes, data structures, and data flows as assigned. • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to achieve company goals.
EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: • College course work in Information Science or Computer Science or discipline related to publishing – degree or equivalent experience highly preferred. • Minimum 2 years experience in analyzing and working with structured data content and the electronic management of data required. • Training or experience with SGML/XML document analysis and data mapping highly preferred. • Thorough knowledge of basic database and document management concepts and techniques, including basic information retrieval concepts and practices, required. • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments and responsibilities within deadlines. • Ability to build consensus across functional areas within cross-functional project teams. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff and vendors. • Proven ability to analyze and synthesize information and define solutions for database publishing problems. • Experience with Cengage Gale products, editorial policies, processes, markets and competitor products preferred. • Good understanding of software development lifecycle and business process reengineering concepts. • Committed to understanding
